Review | Kera Care Haircare Range | Conditioner, Heat Protector and Masque

Hey Lovelies,
This is going to be part 2 of my review of the Kera Care haircare range. You can view part one here.

Leave-in Conditioner

'A powerful instant Moisturizing Complex that works like 3 conditioners in one. Improves the surface properties of hair. Protects against thermal and mechanical damage. Contains sunscreens to protect against the sun’s UV rays.'

This was one of the original products I purchased at the recommendation of my hairdresser. She referred to it as 'the holy grail of products' and that was good enough for me. I don't know about any of you guys out there but I have this issue with products leaving my hair feeling thick, greasy and weighed down, and I know sometimes afro hair products can do this as they are so moisturising. But she assured me that as long as you only use as  much as is recommended (a coin sized amount) that this wouldn't happen, and she was right. I apply this to damp towel dried hair and honestly it does wonders, it doesn't weigh my hair down or leave it greasy. It almost feels like my hair sucks it up!

Strengthening Thermal Protector

'A leave-in lotion with UV protection that notably improves elasticity during thermal styling. Enriched with strengthening ceramides that leave hair significantly stronger.'

Again this was another of the original products I picked up. Before I started using this my hair seemed to break very easily, even though I was using thermal protectors they never seemed to keep my hair in decent condition. My hair never seemed to grow because it was constantly breaking. Since I've been using this product I've noticed my hair has grown past that 'set length' and that its in better condition for it. I also used this product when I went on holiday over the summer and I was stunned by the results. Usually the combination of heat, sun exposure and being in and out of water wrecks my hair leaving it dry and brittle. But this year I applied a small amount to my hair every day and my hair was left so soft and so manageable  and I think that in particular is down to this product!

Intensive Restorative Masque

'the Intensive Restorative Masque strengthen the hair and improve elasticity, it also conditions the hair making it more manageable, soft and silky.'
This was the latest of my products, so I cant yet share the long term benefits of this product with you guys but I can certainly share the immediate effects. I've never really been into hair masques and this is my second one, I used to leave my conditioner on my hair for around 20 minutes but after another 'chat' with my hairdresser she advised that I try something that's more of a deep treatment. I use this instead of a conditioner, so I tend to alternate week from week. I use about an egg-cup size after shampooing and leave it on my hair for about half an hour, or for as long as possible. After I wash it out my hair is Unbelievably soft and so easy to manage. The same with the conditioner I find it really helps with blow-drying my hair and speeds up the whole process.

In summary after these looooong posts! I'm a huge fan of the Kera Care range, they are brilliant for my hair type and have done wonders for my hair.

Review | Kera Care Haircare Range | Shampoo and Conditioner

Hey Lovelies!
Firstly I'd like to say that I know that this post won't apply to everyone, and i've debated about posting this for months as it only applies to so few people. But then I thought this is my blog and if one person enjoys this post than its worth it! As I know this could very quickly turn into a long post a I have 5 products Ive decided to split this into two posts.

Hair History
All my life I have had thick, frizzy unruly afro hair. I remember my mum trying her hardest when I was younger just to tame it, and having had no experience with afro hair before I was born she didn't manage to well. When I was younger I went to which ever hairdresser she was with at the time, who like her knew very little about how to manage my hair, and my hair was left seriously damaged all the time.
When I was about 6 I got my hair relaxed (chemically straightened) for the first time. Its a seriously strong treatment and with an inexperienced hair dresser I was often left with burns all over my scalp. About a year ago, after years of bad hair dressers, my hair hit the point of no return and I was old enough to put my foot down and find a hair dresser who actually knew how to cope with my hair and she was the one who introduced me to the Kera Care range.

'The company's goal is to provide the very best products that advanced research and innovative thinking can offer, and always with an eye toward advancing hair technology.'

The Range
At the moment I have 5 products in the Kera Care range, and I love them all, I have a list waiting for when I next go back to the hairdressers. They are all relatively well priced and have done wonders for my hair.

'KeraCare Hydrating Detangling Shampoo is a beauty bath for hair thatproduces a rich lather as it lightly conditions and cleans hair. pH-balancedand excellent for relaxed, permed or color-treated hair'

The first thing I love about this Shampoo is how long it has lasted me! I've had this one bottle for a good 6 to 7 months. Its insane! I wash my hair around once a week, I know for the majority of you that seems gross but if i wash my hair often it strips it and leaves it so dry and brittle, and I'm blessed that afro hair doesn't get greasy and dirty over a short period of time. But still Shampoo's never last me this long.
You only need a coin-sized amount and it really does do a lot as its so concentrated. It doesn't later quite as much as other Shampoos but my hair still feels clean afterwards. It really does help with detangling as well, which is something I hoped for but wasn't thinking would actually happen.

'KeraCare Humecto Creme Conditioner helps correct and prevent moistureloss due to exposure to chemicals and thermal styling appliances. Penetrates deep within the hairshaft to hydrate and humectify hair.'

Again this product has lasted me absolutely ages. I bought the two of them at the same time and they are both still going strong. The packaging recommends you leave this on your hair for 15-20 minutes for maximum conditioning, and this is something I do do. I love the smell of both of these products and I feel the longer I leave them on my hair the more my hair smells of them when I wash them out.
Afterwards my hair is soooo soft! It feels incredible, and I really feel like it speeds up the process of blowdrying my hair. I can't believe how much of an improvement there has been to my hair, through both of these products. I've noticed such a difference in the amount of split ends and breakage i've had as well. And because of that my hairs become so much longer. It had hit that level where it wouldn't grow past a certain point no matter how hard I tried and how long I left it. But since using these my hairs grown a lot, and its in such better conditions as well.

In the next post I will be reviewing the Kera Care, Intensive Restorative Masque, Leave-In Conditioner and the Strengthening Thermal Protector.

Review | Garnier Dark Spot Corrector

Skin History
Although I don't have overly problematic skin, like everyone else I get spots, and when I do get a bad spot it tends to leave a dark mark that often take several months to begin to fade, leaving my skin tone sometimes looking uneven. I've constantly been on the look out for something to clear them up, but had given up hope and accepted it. So when I saw the Dark Spot Corrector in boots it felt like a perfect fit for me. Over the years I have tried a wide range of Garnier products, and I especially love their skin care range so I had high hopes for the Corrector, and at £9.99 from Boots you cant go wrong in my book!

What Causes Dark Spots
Melanin is the brown pigment responsible for skin colour. However excessive amounts of stress, UV rays, ageing and changing hormones levels can lead to to much melanin being produced, leading to a small patch of colour that we know as dark spots.

'a daily skincare product that evens skin tone, reduces the appearance of dark spots and illuminates whilst giving intense 24hr moisture. The light non greasy texture is suitable for all skin tones.'

Initial Thoughts
The first thing that hit me when I tried the Corrector was the smell, its amazing. Its lovely and citrusy, but not over powering, just fresh. The smell alone is refreshing enough to wake me up. I love how natural it smells, It doesn't feel like I'm plastering my skin in anything un natural, which when it comes to skin is a good thing.
Like Garnier claims its very lightweight and not greasy at all, it lovely to apply and is a great base first thing in the morning. I have quite oily skin at times and this complements my skin type well and doesn't make my skin more oily.

2 Months On
After using the corrector for quite some time I can honestly say i've noticed a serious change in my skin tone. Some of the dark spots that I've had for what feels like years have now faded a huge amount and I don't feel like I always have to wearing concealer in order to feel confident.
When I came home from university I typically left it at home when I went back for 2 weeks, and I realised then how much this had been doing for my skin, It felt duller without it. Since then I'm using this religiously twice a day and I can't rate it highly enough.

New Year Resolutions

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a wonderful night and aren't feeling to tender today. I never normally follow or write new year resolutions, I'm awful at sticking to them! But this year I thought I would actually start and try and keep to them!
source
Don't coast through uni.
During my A Levels I coasted. I did enough to get where I needed to get but no more. Now I'm at uni I'm determined to not let that happen. Im paying to much money to only put in 90%!

Cut down on spending.
At the end of every month Im always broke and counting down the days till pay day. Im awful at paying for things on card without realising how they add up. From now on I'm setting myself a weekly cash allowance, and putting my card somewhere well hidden!

Be Healthier.
Put down the bacon sarnie and pick up a piece of fruit Megan! Now I'm at uni fruit and veg come few and far between. I don't want to calorie count or anything like that. I just want to cut down on crap and learn to pick up fruit when I'm shopping.

See my brothers more.
Recently Ive faded away from some of my family, for no particular reason other than life. I have two brothers, 16 and 10, and every time I see them they've changed so much. I want to be a bigger part of their life then someone they say once or twice a month.

Blog more.
I want to get into the habit of blogging on a regular basis, as you guys know I'm awful at that! I want to start at once a week and then hopefully go up from there. I know for most people that goes without saying but I thought I would start easy.

Get more involved with blogging.
I love blogging, and I love the friends I've meet and speak to through blogging, but Im at that stage in blogging where I want to get involved with things like #bbloggers chat and things like that, but I worry about how my friends outside of blogging will react. I know its ridiculous and something I need and will get over Its just going to take me sometime.

Stick to a skincare regime.
This one Im awful at! I buy a whole bunch of new skincare stuff when my skin breaks out and then when it settles back down completely abandon any regime I had!

Stay out of things.
I've been dragged into a few situations recently that I don't even know how I got into. Sometimes I think its ok to take a step back, its not worth the time, and you only end up looking like the bad guy.

Do more things that I love.
Blogging be one of them! I don't know when or why I stopped but when I sit and think about it theres several things I miss. Cooking and reading being top of the list.

Be happier.
life is far to short to be miserable.

Also I stumbled across this 2012 music mashup and haven't stopped listening to it and seeing as this is a new years post I thought why not!

Love
Megan x
